Job Summary:


We are looking for an enthusiastic Commis Chef to work in our kitchen under the guidance of the Chef De Parties. In the commis chef role, you will assist the chef de partie with tasks related to meal preparation, maintenance, logistics, and safety and sanitation. Success in this role will be determined by your ability to support the kitchen’s efficiency and safety without compromising the quality of the meals produced.


Activities & Responsibilities:

Primary

  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission.
  • Monitors kitchen equipment and reports issues to superiors
  • Continually develops culinary knowledge to produce high-quality meals
  • Measures mixes and prepares meal ingredients, sauces, and seasonings
  • Plates meal items under the chef de parties supervision
  • Disposes of spoiled items and adheres to sanitation policies
  • Accurately measuring meal ingredients for the Chef de Partie.
  • Preparing meal ingredients, which includes seasoning different meats as well as washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and fruits.
  • Preparing basic salads and sauces as directed by the Chef de Partie.
  • Receiving deliveries and verifying that all ordered items have been delivered and are of good quality.
  • Taking inventory of restaurant supplies and notifying the supervisor of low or depleted supplies.
  • Discarding all expired and spoiled food items stored in the stock rooms, refrigerators, and freezers.
  • Performing basic cleaning duties and ensuring that workstations are properly sanitized.
  • Plating and presenting meal items as per Chef de Partie’s instructions.
  • Memorizing recipes, policies, procedures, and standard portion sizes
  • Preparing ingredients and components of each recipe on the restaurant’s men
  • Being aware of and following all kitchen health and safety regulations and guidelines created and maintain schedules and work assignments.

About:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Self-motivation and a passion for hospitality and cooking
  • High school diploma or GED, associate’s degree, diploma, or certification in culinary arts is advantageous.
  • A food handler's license.
  • Proven commercial kitchen experience.
  • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
  • The ability to stand for extended periods.
  • The ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Good understanding of food, health, and safety regulations
  • Computer literate
  • Able to lift heavy items
  • Able to work holidays and weekends
